A Gala Concert will be held at the Icelandic Opera on November 11th to celebrate the new season without restrictions. 


The concert was planned as a celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Icelandic Opera in 2019, but was postponed due to the pandemic.


The famous tenor Kristján Jóhannsson will host the concert and perform with renowned guest soloists. The program includes well known works by Mozart, Verdi and Puccini accompanied by the Orchestra of the Icelandic Opera conducted by Kornilios Michailidis.


Among the guests will be Sigrún Hjálmtýsdóttir, Herdís Anna Jónasdóttir and Sigríður Ósk Kristjánsdóttir along with Aðalsteinn Már Ólafsson, Gunnar Björn Jónsson and Janusz Nosek.


Kristján has had a very successful international carreer as an opera singer and has performed in many of the most prestigious Opera houses of the world. He sang the role of Cavaradossi in the production of the Icelandic Opera of TOSCA in 2017 after having performed the role 400 times in various productions in his successful carrer.
