Lilja Guðmundsdóttir grew up in the northern part of Iceland where she studied flute and piano from an early age. Later she studied vocals at the Music School of Akureyri with Sigríður Aðalsteinsdóttir. From 2006-2010 she studied at the Sigurdur Demetz School of Vocal Arts in Reykjavík with Jón Thorsteinsson and Sigrún Hjálmtýsdóttir. Lilja received a scholarship from Dalton Baldwin 2009 and 2010 and has participated in Masterclasses with Barbara Bonney, Roger Vignoles, Lorraine Nubar, Galina Pisarenko and Angelika Kirschlager. Lilja sang the role of Donna Elvira from Don Giovanni in Harpa Reykjavik Concert hall in 2012, Frasquita in Carmen at the Icelandic Opera in 2013 and 2. Niece in Peter Grimes at the Reykjavík Art Festival in 2015. In Vienna Lilja sang Suor Osmina/Una Novizia at Theater an der Wien in Vienna in 2012 and The Queen of the night with Oh!pera in 2014. In October 2015 Lilja finished her Master’s degree from The Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna under the guidance of Uta Schwabe.
