Guja Sandholt lives in Utrecht and Reykjavík and performs regularly in the Netherlands, Iceland and internationally. She enjoys a busy schedule as a soloist and ensemble singer. She is also the Artistic Director of Reykajvík Opera Days, a festival dedicated to the classical vocal arts. In 2018, it was chosen the Music Festival of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards. Guja was nominated as the Classical Female Singer of the year 2019 at the Icelandic Music Awards this year.
Recently, she performed David Lang's The Little Match Girl Passion with a solo quartet in Reykjavík. She also portrayed Julia Child in Lee Hoiby's Bon Appétit! in Reykjavík; King Harald's Saga by Judith Weir at the prestigious Reykholtshátíð and Harpa; Popova in William Walton's The Bear at the Cycle Art and Music Festival in Iceland and Sweden and participated as a resident artist in the Nieuwe Stemmen project at the Operadagen Rotterdam. Guja regularly appears as a soloist within the oratorio field in the Netherlands and is a member of the Dutch Radio Choir. A few years ago, Guja went as a Fellow of the Wagner Scholarship Foundation to Bayreuth to enjoy their annual Fellow program. Guja studied at the Reykjavík College of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Mozarteum University in Salzburg and with Jón Thorsteinsson and Charlotte Margiono at the Conservatory in Utrecht, Netherlands.
