Fjölnir Ólafsson


Baritone Fjölnir Ólafsson began his singing studies in 2008 after having trained as a Classical Guitarist from an early age and studied at the Reykjavik College of Music. In 2014 Fjölnir graduated from the Hochschule für Musik in Saarbrücken. He has appeared on numerous occasions on the concert platform in Germany, in Brahms Requiem and Bach’s St Matthew Passion to name but a few. His operatic debut was the title role in Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni with the Icelandic Youth Orchestra in July 2012. At the Staatstheater in Saarbrücken he has appeared in numerous productions, such as “Tosca” and “Macbeth”. In April 2013 Fjölnir took part in the “Lied Akademie des Heidelberger Frühling” where he participated in Masterclasses with Thomas Hampson, Thomas Quastoff and Wolfram Rieger. Fjölnir is a pricewinner in the “International Joseph Suder Wettbewerb 2012” and has been the recipient of numerous awards and grants, including the Icelandic Rotary Price 2013.
