Moldovan baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky completed his studies in choral conducting at the Stefan Nyaga Musical College in Kishinau, Moldova in 2006. Whilst at college he also studied as a vocalist and upon graduation was given a place at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St Petersburg where he made his debut in the title role of Eugene Onegin.
In 2007 Andrey was a finalist in the St. Petersburg International Vocal Competition and in 2009 went on to win third prize in the Obraztsova International Competition and won third Prize at the Maria Bieshu International Vocal Competition. On the concert platform Andrey has worked with important conductors such as Mikhail Tatarnikov, Vassily Petrenko and Modestas Pitrenas. He joined the Mikhailovsky Theatre where he sung Belcore L'elisir d'amore, Robert Iolanta and Il barbiere di Siviglia. Andrey made his debut with the Latvian National Opera in Il barbiere di Siviglia in 2011 and in 2012 he joined the Bolshoi Theatre, whom he regularly sings with. Andrei recently made his house debut at the Opera de Paris as Robert Iolanta and will go on to sing Schaunard La boheme at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago. Future engagements includeEugene Onegin with the Icelandic Opera, Malatesta Don Pasquale at Glyndebourne and his debut at the Opera de Nice for Eugene Onegin.
